Field Engineer
Be the hands-on technical presence behind every successful smart hardware installation and deployment, working across sites to keep our intelligent hardware running and our customers supported.
Network Nation Nigeria (NNN) is the Nigerian subsidiary of Network Nation, a multi-utility management platform with operations across Nigeria, the UK and Kenya. Our platform depends on intelligent metering hardware performing reliably in the field, and on the people who assess, install and support it.
We're looking for a Field Support Engineer to join our growing systems engineering team. This role sits primarily on-site-assessing locations, supporting installations and troubleshooting hardware-while working closely with our customer success and commercial teams. You'll need strong electrical or technical grounding, ideally with metering industry experience, communication skills to work effectively with internal teams, technical vendors and, occasionally, customers directly, and a strong sense of ownership to manage assigned tasks.
- Conduct on-site and virtual assessments, collecting and recording all the details required for a successful installation
- Produce a complete bill of materials or equivalent proposal input to support delivery planning
- Recommend cost-efficient solutions based on site assessment findings
- Provide technical input into standard solutions and simple delivery plans
- Support installations-guiding installation teams, handling internal hardware provisioning, carrying out small installations directly, and overseeing quality checks for work carried out by partner teams to ensure procedures are properly followed
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues on-site for meter hardware and other intelligent devices we deploy
- Manage internal tickets, providing remote or field resolution as issues arise
- Use internal monitoring and system tools to resolve issues remotely or in person on-site
- Work directly with customers on-premise while coordinating remote support from internal teams
- Provide constructive feedback on tools that make field support and customer product use more effective
- Help create and refine processes that let field support scale as the business grows
- 3–5 years of experience as a practicing electrical or electronics engineer, ideally with experience in the metering or renewables industry
- Solid working knowledge of electricity, water or other intelligent metering systems and their components
- Prioritises electrical safety-familiar with safety guidelines and procedures for installations, deployments and maintenance, and able to identify and escalate risks
- Experience with IoT solutions and the interconnection between intelligent hardware and its software overlay
- Comfortable being primarily field-based, with the flexibility to support remotely when needed and to travel to customer sites within and outside Lagos
- A strong communicator with solid interpersonal skills, able to liaise effectively with customer success and commercial teams, technical vendors, and occasionally customers directly
- Detail-oriented and well organised, able to capture accurate site information and manage time across multiple site visits
- Proactive about process: keen to create, follow and improve the processes that help field support scale
- Mission-driven work bringing modern utility management to underserved markets
- Hands-on ownership of the technical quality behind every installation in the field
- Work at the intersection of hardware and software, supporting real IoT deployments across Nigeria
- Direct input into the tools and processes that will define how field support scales as the team grows
- Join a technical team with room to grow into broader systems engineering responsibilities
- We're a fun, nimble team. We stay humble, hungry, and full of agency as we solve hard and important problems.
