Business Development Partner
Drive new business growth for Network Nation in Nigeria, owning the complete cycle from generating opportunities through negotiation, closing and conversion to revenue.
Network Nation is a utility-management technology company operating across the UK, Kenya and Nigeria. The company provides technology and solutions that enable independent utilities to improve transparency, billing, collections, metering, and the management of essential services.
In Nigeria, Network Nation works across the independent utility ecosystem, serving communities, estates, property developments, mini cities, mega cities, energy providers, and other organisations responsible for delivering and managing electricity, water, and related utility services. As Network Nation expands its Nigerian operations, we are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Partner to develop strategic accounts, create new business opportunities, and convert those opportunities into revenue.
This is not solely a lead-generation position. The successful candidate must be an experienced closer capable of owning the complete business development cycle from identifying and generating opportunities through stakeholder engagement, solution presentation, negotiation, closing, and conversion to revenue. The role requires an individual who can confidently engage senior decision-makers and navigate complex commercial ecosystems.
You will develop opportunities across property developers, residential and commercial estates, communities, mini cities and mega cities, state and government partners, independent utility providers, Distribution Companies (DisCos), independent power providers, energy and infrastructure businesses, and other organisations requiring technology-enabled utility management.
- Identify, generate and develop new business opportunities within Network Nation's target markets
- Own the complete sales cycle from lead generation through qualification, opportunity development, negotiation, closing and revenue conversion
- Build and manage a strong pipeline of qualified commercial opportunities
- Develop new strategic accounts and grow relationships from initial engagement through successful commercial closure
- Build relationships with property developers, estates, communities, mini cities, mega cities, and other private developments
- Develop commercial relationships with state and government partners where relevant to Network Nation's utility solutions
- Engage Distribution Companies (DisCos), independent power providers, energy companies, and other stakeholders within the utility ecosystem
- Identify opportunities for custom projects and strategic partnerships with utility providers and large institutional clients
- Engage senior executives, business owners, government stakeholders and other key decision-makers
- Present Network Nation's solutions and clearly articulate their commercial, operational and customer value
- Understand prospective clients' utility-management challenges and position appropriate Network Nation solutions
- Lead commercial discussions, proposals, presentations and negotiations with prospective clients
- Overcome commercial objections and navigate complex stakeholder environments to progress opportunities
- Negotiate commercial terms and successfully close qualified opportunities
- Coordinate with internal technical, operational and customer teams to ensure proposed solutions are commercially viable and deliverable
- Support the successful onboarding and transition of newly acquired accounts
- Develop existing accounts and identify opportunities for additional products, services or commercial relationships
- Maintain accurate pipeline information and provide regular forecasts and updates on opportunities, expected closures and revenue
- Represent Network Nation at relevant industry events, meetings, partnerships and commercial engagements
- Build a strong network across the Nigerian property, utility, energy, infrastructure and government ecosystem
- Consistently achieve agreed business development, account acquisition and revenue targets
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in sales, business development, enterprise sales, partnerships or commercial growth
- Demonstrable track record of generating opportunities and successfully closing significant B2B or enterprise deals
- Strong experience managing the complete sales cycle rather than focusing exclusively on lead generation
- Proven ability to engage and influence senior decision-makers, with executive presence and confidence
- Strong negotiation, presentation, relationship management and closing skills
- Ability to navigate complex sales processes involving multiple stakeholders
- Strong commercial judgement and understanding of account development
- Demonstrated ability to independently develop new markets and accounts
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong pipeline management and forecasting discipline
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative and take ownership of commercial outcomes, with a high level of personal agency
- Persistence and resilience through long or complex sales cycles, and comfort with ambiguity in relatively new or evolving markets
- Able to turn relationships and conversations into measurable commercial outcomes
- Experience in utilities, energy, power, property development, infrastructure, technology, telecommunications or a related B2B sector would be highly valuable
- Own commercial growth for Network Nation in Nigeria, with the autonomy to develop a new market on your own terms
- Take a platform already proven at scale in the UK and Kenya into a market that needs it
- Direct access to senior decision-makers across Nigeria's property, utility, energy and government ecosystem
- Scope to shape strategic partnerships and custom projects, not just close standard deals
- Mission-driven work bringing better utility management to growth markets
- We're a fun, nimble team. We stay humble, hungry, and full of agency as we solve hard and important problems.
